“Dumbo has always been my favorite Disney film, but when I told someone this they said that it was disgusting because the film has racism in it. When I was young, it didn’t occur to me the crows were supposed to be racial stereotypes. I thought they were nice characters because they didn’t hate Dumbo for how he looked. Now I feel like I’m not supposed to love the film as much as I do”
Haters gonna hate. I never caught onto the race thing until recently actually. :P
Recently as in a few years ago. But a loooong time after I fell in love with the movie.
“As a child I never caught on that Dumbo and Timothy were drunk and that the pink elephants weren’t a “real” part of the movie”.
this. this. this. When people say that that scene is bad for kids, well to be honest I didnt even know what was happeneing, I had no clue he was drunk. I thought he was just dreaming and I liked the cool animation…
I agree. But I still thought it was a bit spooky, but not as bad as people make it sound.

Dumbo used to make me cry when I was little. And I’m pretty sure if I watch it again, I’ll cry my eyes out.
